About International Youth Legal Exchange Conference 2021
The International Youth Legal Exchange Federation (“IYLEF”) and the Department of Justice of the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (“DoJ”) will be organizing the virtual International Youth Legal Exchange Conference 2021 (“Conference”) on Saturday, 11 September 2021, themed “Access to Justice: The Key to Inclusive Society and Sustainable Development”.
Inspired by the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States, the DoJ launched Vision 2030 for Rule of Law (“Vision 2030”), a 10-year visionary initiative, to build and maintain a fair and rule-based society underpinned by the rule of law through collaboration with stakeholders for sustainable development for all.
The Conference, which provides a cross-jurisdiction exchange for youth in the Asia-Pacific region, is one of the projects under Vision 2030. The main objectives of the Conference are:-
(1) to provide a cross-jurisdiction platform for youths with legal and dispute resolution background in the Asia-Pacific region to share and exchange their views on the legal system and in advancing access to justice in their respective jurisdictions; and
(2) through the Conference, to learn how cultural, socio-economic factors and legal traditions may interplay with the rule of law so as to facilitate a more holistic study of the rule of law and access to justice system of the respective jurisdictions.
